SAARC is a geopolitical union of the governments of countries of South Asia that include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. China, European Union, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Mauritius, Myanmar and Unites States of America have observer status in SAARC. SAARC was founded on 8th December 1985 in Dhaka; the region comprises 3% of the worlds area, 21% of the worlds population and 3.8% (US$2.9 trillion)[3] of the global economy, as of 2015. SAARC-AA was founded as SACA (South Asian Confederation of Anaesthesiologists) came into existence on November 1, 1991. First SACA Congress was hosted by Bangladesh from October 27-29, 1993.
